Report from the 16th Symposium on Software Performance

The 16th Symposium on Software Performance (SSP ’25) was held from November 3 to 5, 2025 in Kiel, Germany, which is now the second time SSP held in Kiel since 2016.

Every year, the SSP brings together researchers and practitioners interested in software performance and related quality attributes. The scope of SSP spans measurement, modeling, benchmark design, and run-time management.

The SSP 2025 program included two keynotes, from adesso and Dynatrace, and 19 technical presentations. The presentations are accompanied by extended abstracts and short papers to appear in the GI Softwaretechnik-Trends ðŸ——. In addition to the main venue in the new adesso office, we held one session in Marine Science Center ðŸ——.

From a Kieker perspective, we gave talks with 5 technical papers related to Kieker Observability Framework, including Kieker’s interoperability with OpenTelemetry’s asynchronous Span data with the Astronomy Shop reference application ðŸ——, dynamic and static analysis of Python software with Kieker ðŸ——, change points detection in MooBench’s continuous benchmarking on GitHub Actions ðŸ——, unit test traces visual analysis with ExplorViz and Kieker ðŸ——, and the first monitoring efforts on the Renew Petri Net Simulator ðŸ——. We held a Kieker developer meeting in Christian-Albrechts-Platz 4 at Kiel University.

The entire SSP 2025 program was successful with the help of all participants and our colleagues from adesso, dynatrace, and Kiel University.

The SSP series is organized by the research groups around Kieker, Descartes, and Palladio, which are located at the universities of Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Kiel, Stuttgart, Würzburg, and Leipzig. SSP 2026 will be held in Würzburg, Germany.
